Despite its straightforward design, the C 298 is packed with features that cater to various audio setups. Selectable balanced and single-ended line inputs ensure compatibility with studio equipment and high-end preamps. The amplifier’s trim control enables seamless integration with different components, while the line output supports daisy-chaining for additional power to more speakers or subwoofers. The auto-sense function with an adjustable threshold is perfect for automating complex systems or discreet installation in cabinets, and the included ground lug helps eliminate ground loops and noise in multi-component setups. A bridge switch transforms the C 298 into a powerful Monobloc amplifier, offering 620W of output into 8 ohms in bridge mode, making it versatile enough for future upgrades.
Superior Sound and Power
NAD has moved beyond traditional linear power supplies and Class AB output stages, which are energy-intensive and produce more heat than sound. Instead, the C 298 utilizes switch mode power supplies and Class D output stages for better efficiency and performance. These advanced circuits provide a highly linear response over a wide bandwidth and consistent performance across all speaker loads, representing a significant improvement over earlier models.
The robust power supply of the C 298 can continuously deliver 185W per channel and over 570W instantaneously for short-term musical transients. NAD’s Asymmetrical PowerDrive technology makes full use of the available power, ensuring that dynamic musical passages are reproduced without distortion or compression. The amplifier’s efficient power supply also provides near-perfect voltage regulation under various conditions and supports a wide range of AC mains voltages (100V to 240V).
