A follow-up to an immensely popular DSP-active loudspeaker derived from a near-iconic passive, KEF LS50. The audible improvements over the original version include more intelligible vocals plus better upper-midrange lucidity and more abundant micro-dynamic flicker — the latter two qualities combining to better expose music’s minutiae and properly animate it.
The second-generation model also features a more powerful streaming board upon which runs a commensurately more powerful operating system, reportedly too resource-hungry to be backported to the original version’s more limited streaming hardware spec. The upshot for the incoming model is a considerably better user experience.

During KEF's 50th anniversary the first generation of passive LS50 loudspeakers were presented. Based entirely on the legendary LS3/5A, this loudspeaker was received with open arms by the public and also received many prestigious awards from the international press. A few generations later KEF introduces the all-new LS50 Wireless II. This is a fully active digital home studio monitoring system that has evolved in many ways from the first generation of LS50 Wireless speakers.
Even more powerful
After three years of intensive research KEF presents its second generation of the KEF LS50 Wireless. KEF chooses for conventional class A/B amplification that delivers no less than 380 watts of output power. Using the KEF Connect app you can easily adjust the characteristics of the speakers to the listening environment. The left and right speakers communicate with a wireless 24/96kHz connection. For those who rather prefer a wired connection, KEF also supplies a high-performance interspeaker cable that increases the resolution up to 24bit and 196kHz.
KEF Connect app
With the KEF Connect app you can stream Tidal, Amazon Music, Qobuz, Deezer, Internet Radio stations and podcasts. You can also stream directly from Spotify Connect. The LS50 Wireless II supports MQA and can stream sound files up to 24bit/384kHz and DSD256. Direct wireless streaming to the LS50 Wireless II is also possible by use of Apple AirPlay 2, Google Chromecast and Bluetooth. Furthermore, there are various analogue and digital connections available to which you can connect your TV, record player, CD player and/or games console.
MAT technology
This LS50 Wireless II is equipped with revolutionary MAT technology. This Metamaterial Absorption Technology consists of a synthetic material with a complex maze-like structure that has the super ability to eliminate 99% of internal cabinet reflections. These channels act as an 'acoustic black hole' that absorbs most unwanted sound. As a result, you'll experience unprecedented purity of sound.
Uni-Q
In addition, the LS50 Wireless II has a specially designed 12th generation Uni-Q with MAT. Thanks to the improved characteristics, the sound spreads nicely and evenly throughout the room so that, no matter where you are, you experience a most realistic soundstage and a powerful bass. While listening, the speakers virtually 'disappear' into the room and completely immerse the listeners into the music. With this KEF LS50 Wireless II you hear every note, every word and every detail in the music.
