If you are looking for a DAC that has a Opitcal input + USB input then this is the one to get.. but if you just need a USB DAC without the optical input then you can look at the Topping D10s
As for sound quality this does the job and your music will sound like how it should sound..

Having a optical input is beneficial if you are looking to pair the SMSL Sanskrit 10th Anniversary with a WiiM Mini Streamer and you'll have a whole setup which you can connect with your Spotify / Tidal Connect
Usually new TVs will have an optical output for you to connect your DAC or AV receiver and by doing this you can watch your TV shows with your audio system!
