The Chord ShawlineX speaker cable builds on the legacy of the Chord Rumour (now RumourX), a trusted choice for over 20 years. Featuring silver-plated conductors arranged in a twisted pair configuration and insulated with XLPE, ShawlineX is designed for optimal audio fidelity. To enhance performance, Chord has refined the existing conductor layout by adding a specially selected PVC internal jacket that reduces mechanical noise. This core is then wrapped in a high-density, dual-layer foil and braid shield, the same shielding used on Chord’s Epic cable, to protect against high-frequency interference.

Previously, Shawline/Rumour cables used PTFE insulation, a material known for its high performance, until new advances in insulation technology presented XLPE (Cross-linked Polyethylene) as a sonically superior alternative. Listening tests confirmed that XLPE provided a more balanced, neutral sound profile that could handle high levels of detail and dynamics without coloration.
ShawlineX retains the clarity and coherence of RumourX, carrying micro-dynamics, timing, and the subtle nuances of rhythm and expression with precision. This cable also reveals fine details in instrument timbre, deepening the sense of immersion in music. By reducing interference, ShawlineX enhances imaging and depth in any audio setup, making it an ideal choice for listeners who value both clarity and musicality.
